1. Who we are
iTala is a basketball scorekeeping app operated by Hanna Abejo Santos and Harold Abejo (together, “iTala,” “we,” “us” or “our”). It helps leagues and casual groups record rosters, games, scores, statistics, standings and related basketball information.
2. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms apply to the iTala mobile app, synced service and related public pages. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Our Content Policy forms part of these Terms and applies to all information, images and links submitted to iTala.
If you do not agree, do not use iTala. If you use iTala for a league, club, school, tournament, sponsor or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms and act for that organisation.
3. Eligibility
Named accounts are intended for users aged 13 or older. Users below the applicable age of digital consent may use a named account only with any permission or supervision required by applicable law. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use iTala only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Google or Apple sign-in does not itself verify age or parental permission. You must be an adult with appropriate authority to create or administer a league containing information about minors.
iTala is not directed to children and is not offered in the Kids Category. A youth league may use the service only through an authorised adult who complies with section 8.
4. Accounts and access
iTala may provide anonymous spectator access and optional sign-in through Google or Apple. You are responsible for activity performed through your account, device and league access. Keep league creation codes, scorekeeper access and administrator credentials secure, and tell us promptly if you believe they have been compromised.
Do not share an account in a way that prevents us or a league owner from identifying who made a change. Do not sell, transfer, scrape or misuse an account, access code, session or administrative privilege. We may revoke or replace codes and permissions where reasonably necessary to protect the service, a league or its participants.
5. Roles and league responsibility
League owners and authorised scorekeepers can create or change league records. A league owner is responsible for deciding who receives access and for promptly removing access that is no longer appropriate. A scorekeeper must record information honestly and follow the league's instructions. Statistical records may contain mistakes and are not an official ruling unless the relevant league separately declares them to be official.
Anyone creating or managing a league confirms that they have authority from the relevant league, club, teams or participants to do so. Using a creation code does not itself prove or grant that authority.
6. Visibility and synchronisation
The published version of iTala is designed to let spectators follow basketball records. As explained in the Privacy Policy, synced league, team, player, game and statistical records may be readable by any app session, including an anonymous spectator session. Treat submitted basketball content as publicly visible within iTala and do not submit confidential information.
Sign-in, league creation, team and player management, and drop-in/recreational game setup require an internet connection. Complete setup and start the game online. If the connection drops during live scoring, the device can retain game and stat changes and retry synchronisation when connectivity returns. Offline setup does not have the same recovery guarantees. Synchronisation can be delayed, and conflicting edits may overwrite one another. Do not rely on iTala as the sole copy of information needed for safety, eligibility, financial, disciplinary or legal purposes.
7. Your content and permission to operate the service
You retain any rights you have in content you submit. You give iTala a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display, transmit and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support and improve the service and to comply with law. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies reasonably retained in backups, legal records or another user's local cache.
You confirm that:
- you own the submitted content or have all permissions necessary to submit and display it;
- the content and our permitted use of it do not infringe privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, contractual or other rights;
- information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is not misleading;
- you have provided all notices and obtained all consents or other lawful authority required for personal information about players, coaches, officials and other people; and
- you will honour correction, objection, withdrawal and removal requests that apply to content under your control and will assist us with such requests.
8. Rosters and information about minors
Before entering information about another person, tell them what will be recorded, why it is needed, who can see it and how they can request correction or removal. Use the least identifying information reasonably necessary. Do not enter private contact details, full birthdates, home addresses, identification numbers, health information or other sensitive information in a roster, venue or notes field.
If a league includes a minor, its authorised adult administrator confirms that the league has obtained permission from the minor's parent or legal guardian, or has another lawful basis, before entering identifiable information. The administrator must retain reasonable evidence, respect any conditions on that permission, and remove or anonymise information if the permission is withdrawn and no other lawful basis permits continued use. First names or initials should be used where full names are unnecessary.
9. Images, logos and sponsor material
Upload only images you own or are authorised to use. If an image identifies a person, you must also have permission to display that person's image. Team, league and sponsor names and logos may be protected by trademark or copyright even when they are publicly visible elsewhere.
An administrator submitting sponsor material confirms that the sponsor has authorised the name, logo, promotion and destination link for use in iTala. Sponsor cards and external destinations must be lawful, accurate and suitable for iTala's audience. They must not mislead users or promote prohibited products or services described in the Content Policy.
10. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- violate the Content Policy or any applicable law;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority, affiliation or results;
- access, alter or interfere with a league, account, code or system without permission;
- probe, bypass or defeat authentication, rate limits, row-level security or other safeguards;
- introduce malware, automate abusive traffic, scrape personal information or disrupt the service;
- use iTala to harass, exploit, identify or endanger another person; or
- use data obtained through iTala for unsolicited marketing, profiling, surveillance, betting or another purpose unrelated to legitimate basketball administration or participation.
11. Reports, correction and moderation
Content may be reported through the in-app Report Content action where it is available, or by emailing either address in section 20. Include enough information to locate the content, such as the league, team and player name, but do not send unnecessary identification documents or sensitive information.
We may investigate, request supporting information, correct, restrict, anonymise or remove content, revoke a role or code, suspend an account, or refer a matter to an appropriate league or authority. We may preserve information where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, comply with law or protect legal rights. The Content Policy explains this process in more detail.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes the personal information processed by iTala, including information entered about people who do not have an account, service providers, cross-border processing, retention and available choices. By using the service, you acknowledge that you have read that policy. Acknowledgement of the policy is not permission to submit another person's information; the uploader remains responsible for the authority required by sections 7 and 8.
13. External services and links
iTala relies on services including Supabase, Google, Apple, Expo, Cloudflare and app stores. Those services and any sponsor destination have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control an external destination merely because iTala links to it. Accessing an external site or app is at your discretion, subject to any non-excludable rights you have under law.
14. Our intellectual property
Except for user content and third-party material, iTala and its software, design, branding and documentation are owned by or licensed to us. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended basketball scorekeeping and viewing purposes. No other rights are granted.
15. Changes and availability
We may maintain, change, suspend or discontinue features. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanent availability. We will try to avoid unreasonable disruption and will give notice in the app or on this site when a material change reasonably requires notice.
16. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, iTala is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Scores, statistics, standings, schedules and identity or eligibility information are entered by users and may be incomplete, delayed or incorrect. iTala is not an emergency, medical, safeguarding, gambling, financial or official competition-adjudication service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a guarantee, warranty, condition or remedy that applicable consumer law does not allow us to exclude.
17. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, opportunities, goodwill or data, arising from use of or inability to use iTala. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited only to the extent the applicable law permits. These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited, including liability arising from fraud or wilful misconduct where applicable.
18. Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop using iTala at any time. Named users can initiate account deletion from Settings. Shared league and game records may remain after account deletion as explained in the Privacy Policy. Delete a league first or contact us if you also seek removal of shared records.
We may restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms or the Content Policy have been violated, rights or safety are at risk, or action is required by law. Where appropriate, we may give notice and an opportunity to respond, but immediate action may be taken to address an urgent risk.
19. Governing law and changes to these Terms
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines, without excluding any mandatory rights or protections that apply to you under the law of your country or region. Courts or regulators with jurisdiction under applicable law retain that jurisdiction. Before starting formal proceedings, you and iTala should try in good faith to resolve the concern using the contact details below, unless urgent relief is required.
We may update these Terms. We will change the date above and provide reasonable notice before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use iTala after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the service and request any appropriate account or data deletion.
