iTala Content Policy

Effective date and last updated: 7 September 2026

This policy explains what content is permitted in iTala and how concerns are handled. It applies to everyone who creates, enters, uploads, edits, views or reports content. It forms part of the iTala Terms of Use.

League administrators are responsible for what they submit. Only enter accurate, basketball-related information that you are authorised to use. Obtain appropriate permission before entering another person's information or uploading an image or logo, and use particular care with information about minors.

1. Content covered by this policy

This policy covers, among other things:

2. Core rules

Content submitted to iTala must be:

3. Personal information

Do not submit another person's personal information unless they have been given appropriate notice and you have their consent or another lawful and documented authority. A league's public website, social-media page or printed programme does not by itself prove that information may be copied into iTala.

Do not place the following in a roster, venue, notes field, image or other publicly readable record unless iTala expressly provides an appropriate protected field and the use is lawful and necessary:

4. Content about minors

A youth league must be administered by an authorised adult. Before entering identifiable information about a minor, the league must obtain permission from the parent or legal guardian, or establish another lawful basis, and provide any notice required by applicable law. The league administrator must retain reasonable evidence of that authority.

Use the minimum information needed. Prefer a first name, initials or an approved display name where a full legal name is unnecessary. Do not upload a minor's photograph or publish identifying venue information without specific permission. Never submit safeguarding, medical or private contact information about a minor.

5. Images, logos and intellectual property

You may upload or display an image or logo only if:

Permission to administer a team does not automatically include permission to reproduce a league, school, club, sponsor or photographer's logo or image. Permission from a photographer also may not cover the image rights or privacy of people shown. Keep written evidence of the permissions applicable to official logos, sponsor material and identifiable photographs.

6. Sponsor content and external links

Sponsor content must:

Sponsor material must not suggest that Apple, Google or iTala endorses a sponsor unless that statement is true and specifically authorised.

7. Prohibited content

Do not submit, link to or use iTala to distribute content that:

8. Accuracy and disputed basketball records

Good-faith scorekeeping mistakes are not policy violations. League owners and scorekeepers should correct verified errors promptly. A disagreement about a referee's decision, league rule or official result normally belongs with the relevant league and is not decided by iTala. We may assist with correcting the data displayed by the service but do not act as a competition appeals body.

Deliberate falsification, retaliation, impersonation or repeated refusal to correct clearly false personal information may result in moderation or loss of access.

9. How to report content

You may report content by either of these methods:

Please include:

Do not send passwords or unnecessary identity documents. We may request proportionate evidence of identity, parental authority, ownership or permission when it is reasonably necessary to decide a request. Anyone may report an urgent safety concern without creating an account.

10. Review and moderation

We assess reports based on the content, context, available evidence, these policies and applicable law. We may consult the relevant league administrator or rights-holder. Depending on the concern, we may:

Serious risks involving a minor, credible threats, exposed credentials or sensitive personal information may be actioned immediately. Other reports will be handled as promptly as reasonably possible. We may not be able to disclose confidential, security-sensitive or legally restricted details about an investigation.

11. Blocking abusive users and repeat violations

A league owner should promptly remove a person's league role when access is no longer authorised. iTala may suspend an account or revoke access where necessary to prevent abuse. Attempts to evade a suspension by creating another account, using another code or directing another person to act on the suspended user's behalf are additional violations.

12. Corrections, removal and appeals

A person identified in content, their authorised representative, or a relevant rights-holder may request correction, anonymisation or removal. You do not need an iTala account to make a request. Privacy requests are also handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

If content you submitted is removed or your access is restricted, you may ask us to reconsider by emailing the addresses below with the relevant league or content, the decision, and any supporting information. Repeated, abusive or substantially identical requests may be limited.

13. Records and cooperation

League administrators should keep reasonable records showing their authority and permissions, including the person who authorised the league, the relevant season, participant or guardian notices, and licences for official logos and sponsor material. Do not upload those records into a public roster or notes field. Provide them only through a secure method if they are reasonably requested.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service, law or safety needs change. We will update the date at the top and provide reasonable notice of a material change. The version in effect when content is submitted applies to that submission, while ongoing display and conduct are subject to the current policy to the extent permitted by law.
